Gossip: Britney's ex claims she's in an 'abusive relationship'

The guy who once spent 55 hours as Mr. Britney Spears is apparently still trying to profit from the experience. Just in time for Brit-Brit's 29th birthday on Thursday, the latest issue of Star features an "exclusive interview" with Jason Alexander, who tied the knot with the popster in a quickie, trucker hat-inclusive Las Vegas ceremony in 2004.

Alexander, who claims he stayed in touch with his famous childhood chum after their ill-fated nuptials (and lightning-fast annulment), alleges that she's in an "abusive relationship" with her agent-beau of two years, Jason Trawick.

"She told me her life had turned into a nightmare," says the Louisiana native. "Britney called me and told me that he hit her so hard it gave her a black eye! She couldn't even leave the house for a week because the bruising."

Alexander's assertion is backed up with audio of a phone call (via Radar Online) of a female -- who doesn't really sound much like Britney -- talking smack about Trawick.

"That [bleeper] is not my fiancé," the woman snaps on the tape. Replies Alexander, "I thought he proposed to you or something at the beach?"

The response: "Before or after he beat on me?"

The call was reportedly recorded on Oct. 10, and during the conversation, the voice purporting to be Britney's asserts that she's no longer on speaking terms with Trawick, whose proposal she says she turned down, and has changed her phone number.

But on Sunday, Spears and Trawick were photographed arriving in Los Angeles with her kids, Sean Preston, 5, and Jayden James, 4, after a Thanksgiving trip to see her family in Kentwood, La.

The ostensible Brit-Brit also contends that her dad, Jamie, who remains in charge of her life, "does not want [Trawick] around me right now. My dad has a shotgun, and he's just waiting to use it." Jamie was also part of the Turkey Day festivities.

Britney's camp has come out swinging over the accusations.

"Every aspect of the story published by Star magazine is completely and utterly false," Andrew Wallet, who is one of Spears' conservators, tells TMZ. "Star magazine was informed of the falsity of the story before it was published. All the statements attributable to Jason Alexander are completely fabricated."

What's more, he rails, "The audio recording posted on RadarOnline is a fraud and it is NOT Britney. The audio they are allegedly relying on between Britney and Jason Alexander is obviously fake and ridiculous -- it is NOT HER. Jason Trawick has never abused her. They have defamed Britney Spears and we will be taking appropriate legal action."

This isn't the first time that Alexander has sold Spears out to a tabloid. Three years ago, he alleged to a British tab that they were taking drugs in the days leading up to their wedding.

As for the state of Britney's relationship with Trawick, sources say everything is fine.

"Jason has never been abusive to Britney," a spy assures People mag. "Britney has in the past been very difficult and has had tantrums around Jason, but he was and is nothing but patient with her."

These days, "The couple's relationship is better [than ever]," continues the snitch. "Britney and Jason lately have been very happy together."
